Christmas Celebration in School

There is a Christmas celebration in Zoe's school on 23rd Dec and all parents are invited and the kids can turn up in their own clothes!

Around December, the teachers also got the classes to do some Christmas theme projects. Here's some of the Angel's from an older class.

The concert is taking a while to start so the Mummies (not those wrapped in toilet paper kind!!!) started reading to their kids.

It's also a good chance to take photos with your classmates...

and get dressed in your prettiest attire...

Alright! Seems like the concert is starting!

The Toddler class doing their song item! They obviously can't sing... but still guai guai stood there...

And the most chaotic presentation. The N1 classes. They were supposed to sing Jingle Bells but all the kids were clinging on to their parents (Zoe included!) with only a few standing and doing what they are supposed to do.

And the N2 class with their reindeer hats... forgot the song but should be Rudolph.. already very independent. Note the absence of parents.

Zoe and Wensi got bored and started playing with the dollhouse...

One of the K1 class.... also no parents and they can sing and do some of their own moves...

Another K1 class.... no props but they are all supposed to dance to an energetic number...

And the K2 class... with their colorful guitars.

And Ho Ho Ho... who made an appearance? Santa!

And he is giving out candy canes!

And then, Santa distributed presents! (which has been bought by parents... guideline >$5). Zoe got a book from Clarisse.

And Wensi got a water bottle! After that, it was junk food. :) Overall quite fun but pretty long drawn. Then again, with 120 kids, one can't expect military precision.

Pet Farm

There are days when you wake up and just want to do something that you have not done before. Sunday was one of those days so we decided to bring Zoe to one of the Pet Farms in Pasir Ris Farmway. It wasn't as far as we thought and we got there in around 30 mins.

Entry to the Kampung is $1. If you want to do longkang fishing, it will be $10. I think longkang fishing is terrible because most of the time, you don't have the proper conditions to keep the fishes so they end up dying a slow painful death. Anyway, back to the farm.

$1 also gives you a pack of pet food which you can use to feed the many kois that they have.
The fishes almost beached themselves against the shallow part of the pond to get the food. Apparently, you can "pet" them and they will eat from your hand too!
There are also swans...

and also ducks that you can feed using the same "fish food".
There are a lot of rabbits too!
Here's how you do it... you take the food...
and put it down the tube which will deliver the feed into the rabbit's food tray...

And went to the Ikea nearby for lunch later....
Well... the pet farm is a pretty enjoyable experience. We managed to get there early and had some time for ourselves before a big group of folks from a CC came by and it became pretty disruptive since the place is not huge. In the same area, there is a fish farm that sells exotic fishes (mainly Siamese Fighting Fish and Ranchus). There is also a dog run and swim area. There should also be a florist but it was closed on Sunday.

While on the topic of feeding pets, there is actually a couple of rabbits in the community garden near our home. The intention is good... they keep the rabbits there with a stash of grass nearby for kids to feed the rabbits.

But the wire cages are not lined with any kind of bedding so it's probably hurting the rabbit's feet. Also, during rainy days, they are also left there with barely any shelter. :(

Random Long Weekend

Zoe's school was off on Friday (Childcare centers can have up to 6 days a year off) so we had to take childcare leave and a long weekend!

Since it was Friday and a working day, we decided to check out the usually crowded newly opened nex shopping mall. Reached there at 10am and it was fairly empty... of course, not many shops were opened for business yet!

We went to Isetan and there was a nice Thomas the train display that Zoe was interested in...
With so many toys around... we obviously have to buy a toy for her... there is Raspberry Torte (one of Strawberry Shortcake's friends) that we bought. This was followed by lunch at Ding Tai Feng once they opened at 11am to beat the crowd!

The mall has this promotion where you spend more than $30, you can visit Pooh land or do a meet and greet with the performers. Only kids were allowed in though... but they made an exception for Zoe...So there were activities like sticking stuff onto a photo frame, toss balls into honey pot, take a photo in a Pooh costume, etc. Unfortunately, saw a couple of unpleasant incidents regarding parents:

Parent 1: Why this girl (Zoe) parent is allowed in but you tell me I cannot come in?

Parent 2: Why you made me spend $30 for nothing. Now you tell me I need to wait another 1 hour! (the Pooh land entrance is every 2 hours i.e. 11am, 1pm, 3pm, etc)



Anyway, today we had a farewell for one of Shimin's ex-STB colleagues (Indra) who is going to US. Location is at Truffs... a shop that sells excellent chocolate truffles and cakes (with a price to match)... owned by one of the ex-STB colleagues as well.

Zoe decided to model with one of the fire hydrants along Amoy street while taking a break from the party!

There were a number of kids as well... and this is a cute pic with Cheyenne who is slightly older than her (around 2-3 months). Move closer girls!

Sesame Street

Now that Christmas is coming, a lot of shopping malls are running shows for kids like Barney, Dora, Sesame Street, etc. There is Sesame Street at Plaza Singapura today so we brought Zoe there... she liked Mummy's little bag from Thailand and took it as her own...


While waiting for the show to start, went to Carrefour... and tried out the... scooter/monocycle?


Show starts at 1pm and you can queue ahead if you spent $30 for meet and greet passes. The show is open to public though, which makes it pretty crowded... best spot to view the show? Daddy's shoulders...

1 min into the show... head held high... no problemo...


10 mins into the show... shoulders aching... siong... cannot raise head anymore....20 mins into the show... show ending! Someone's happy (me!) and someone's sad (Zoe!)... phew... it was a workout...
Anyway, here's the show...there's Elmo, Bert and Ernie, Cookie monsters and 2 human beings..

Sometimes... you look back at the days before you have kids... and this is one of those things that I told myself I will not bother to do if i have kids.... :/

Ikea Fun!

Most parents will know that Ikea has fun areas for kids. Well, we brought Zoe to Ikea but at 88cm, she falls outside the 90-120cm limit for those areas.

We had loads of other fun though.... lying on beds...

And they have a nice children's kitchen set! Zoe had fun pretending to cook and serve. A pregnant woman was so amused with her playing and I am sure the image will help her through the delivery process. :P

Christmas Tree

It's a bit early but we have setup the Christmas Tree! Afterall, all the shopping malls have set it up and shops are playing Christmas songs already. We have a little elf to help us this year! And she picked the decorations from Daiso herself....
